The Department of Plant Protection Biology is interdisciplinary with good opportunities for strong research collaboration. World-leading research in integrated pest management, chemical ecology and resistance biology provides a dynamic work environment with good reputation in both basic and applied research.
Integrated pest management is based on a combination of different actions against pests. The Integrated Plant Protection Unit has a wide range of activities that include research on both insect pests and pathogens, as well as on beneficial organisms such as pollinators and the natural enemies of pests.
Duties:
The researcher will work full time in a Formas-funded project aiming to explore genetic variation in flower frost tolerance in wild strawberry and effects of this trait on insect pollination and fungal biocontrol of grey mould.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in plant ecology or similar subject. Documented knowledge in evolutionary ecology, flower biology, GWAS, spatial modelling, pollination biology, and integrated pest management is required. Furthermore, very good statistical knowledge using R is needed.
