The positions we are opening up in this area represent an excellent opportunity for you to be in the forefront of research. For us to be able to meet the future requirements of our customers, both current and new, we believe that an ability to analyze various business processes, architect solutions in software as well as prototype and test them are key competences for future Ericsson business and we want to do research that contributes to that for the future. Those skills set comprise a large range of topics including software technology and architecture, IoT, real-time communication and control, cloud application environments and more. In short, key competence areas for next generation service and application design, creation and operation.
As a person you want to perform at your best and you want to participate in deep technical discussions with other team members. You have excellent programming skills and have a holistic view on problem solving and are used to think in terms of hardware, software, technologies, and use cases. You are aware of the ever-changing world and are intrigued by new technical trends and agile development paradigms.

Main Tasks
• Develop technologies used in future service and application design
• Survey external activities and identify new interest areas to explore
• Participate in various industry and partner collaborations of an ICT transformation nature
• Build understanding around requirements for digitalized industrial processes and rapidly realize potential solutions in software
• Supervise and coach other researchers
Experience/Knowledge
• Experienced MSc or equivalent, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Physics
• Strong analytical skills and ability to acquire new knowledge, apply it, and spread it to others
• Very good knowledge in computing software and experience in modern software environments
• Excellent programming skills
• Experience of innovation and ability to develop new ways of working
• Ability to formulate problems and solve them independently and in groups
• Strong communication skills in written and spoken English and good presentation skills
Bonus
• Experience from various industry collaborations outside the telecom area
• Service enablement and orchestration
• Cloud native application design
• Protocol stack evolution with an emphasis on higher layers
