The Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management is part of the Faculty of Landscape Planning, Horticulture and Agricultural Sciences. Teaching and research responsibilities of the department cover four thematic areas: design of urban landscapes, landscape planning, governance and management and urban vegetation. Teaching and research are multidisciplinary, including the perspectives of the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and technology. The department's staff comprises about 90 members, active in teaching and/or research & development.
Duties:

The successful applicant for this position will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary group of researchers on a project exploring the utility of urban green infrastructure in providing ecosystem services in support of the UN's sustainable development goals. The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:
• Coordinate research excursions to Cincinnati, USA, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Malmö, Sweden to gather data on the performance of urban green elements and specific nature-based solutions (street trees, river corridors, green roofs, and open spaces) for providing ecosystem services.
• Play a central role in planning and writing peer-reviewed journal articles and a research proposal on the role of nature-based solutions in supporting the sustainable development goals.
• Lead bi-weekly research meetings to advance the project goals.
Qualifications:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated researcher with a PhD in Environmental Science or Ecology, and with a minimum of 5 years of experience carrying out research on urban ecosystems with a focus on the biophysical performance of urban green infrastructure elements. You should have a demonstrated ability to achieve external funding supporting research on urban green infrastructure, and a strong publication record in relevant fields. Experience researching the urban green infrastructure in the study cities of Cincinnati (USA), and/or Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) is a strong merit.
Your personal qualities in addition to your work experience are of great importance. You are responsible, open to new ideas, and independent. Good collaborative ability is very important, and you should have demonstrated experience leading interdisciplinary research groups. You can communicate well and have good writing skills. You need to speak and write English fluently, and Swedish language skills are not necessary but are an advantage.
