Cyclicor AB is a spin off company based on the innovative technology from Lund University, Lund, Sweden. The researcher position is placed in Cyclicor AB, Lund, and the work will be collaborated with the Division of Biotechnology, Department of Chemistry, Lund University within a collaborative project between academia and industry funded by MISTRA Innovation (The Swedish foundation for strategic environmental research). The project will be focused on the production, formulation and processing development of bio-based plastics, especially, biobased isocyanate-free polyurethanes and BPA-free polycarbonates. And, the Division runs several multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with industrial partners, involving the development of processes for transformation of renewable resources into chemical building blocks for sustainable chemicals and plastics suited for circular economy.
Work duties
Responsible for research tasks in a project dealing with the development of biobased isocyanate-free polyurethanes and BPA-free polycarbonates.
Synthesis and characterization of polymers by different methods, analyzing their spectroscopic and physico-chemical characteristics
Formulation and processing (e.g. extrusion, molding, casting, etc.) of those thermoset- and thermo-plastics
Take an active role in collaboration with other parties in the project
Write scientific articles and reports
Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:
• Doctoral degree in the subjects of polymer science, material science, organic chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
• Knowledge and background in polymer synthesis, formulation, processing, and / or spectroscopic and physico-chemical characterization, shown in scientific publications.
• Highly motivated and strong ability to conduct research independently but also as part of a research group.
Assessment criteria and other qualifications
Education in polymer chemistry or organic chemistry.
Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of polymer synthesis, formulation, processing, and characterization
Good skills in planning, design and organization.
Experience of working with industry or working in a company
Terms of employment
Temporary employment for 1 year, 2022-05-01 - 2023-04-30 (negotiable, potentially extendable)
