Research at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) experimentally addresses fundamental problems in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immunobiology. State-of-the art and advanced methodologies are applied in a professional research environment characterized by its well-established international profile. The position is available in the laboratory headed by Prof. Martin Jastroch. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with an interest in physiology and metabolism. Our lab works with different cell and animal models to study energy metabolism from the organism to the molecule with the focus on adipose tissue and the evolution of uncoupling proteins.
Main responsibilities
The position involves project lead, scientific writing as well as research and laboratory-based experimental work on a highly innovative project exploring adipose tissue thermogenesis and evolution. Experience in the field of phylogenetics and mitochondrial bioenergetics are beneficial. Furthermore, skills in adipose tissue cell culture and plate-based respirometry is advantageous. High motivation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.
Qualification requirements
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills.
Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of 12 months. Start date 2024-03-31 or as per agreement.
