The position
Researcher in innovation studies at the Department of Human Geography, Lund University Type of employment: 11 months Extent: 100% Location: Department of Human Geography, Lund University and the Centre for Innovation, Research and Competence in the Learning Economy, Lund University

Assignments
The position involves research (100%).

This position is within the research area concerning sustainability transitions and comprises work within two projects. The main empirical focus of the project is innovation processes for decarbonisation in energy-intensive industries (steel, plastics, paper and food), and the transport sector.

The first research area will be developed in connection with the EU-funded Horizon 2020 research project 'REINVENT - Realising Innovation in Transitions for Decarbonisation'. This project is run in collaboration with partners in the Netherlands (Utrecht University and PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency), Germany (The Wuppertal Institute) and the UK (University of Durham). The overall aim of REINVENT is to help Europe achieve its long-term climate objectives, while supporting the development of other societal benefits and the economy, by analysing sectors where low carbon transitions are still relatively unexplored. The approach is to study and understand transitions and emerging initiatives from within sectoral contexts where government climate policy is only one of many factors that shape perceptions and strategies.

The second research area is in connection with the EU-funded project PRO-EME - "Promotion of Electric Mobility in Urban Europe". This project is run in collaboration with a consortium of research institutions and industrial actors in 12 participating countries. The overall aim of the project is to identify and promote opportunities to accelerate a transition to electric mobility in the transport sector through a large interdisciplinary effort ranging from decision support tools to public outreach.

Qualifications and assessment
To be appointed a PhD in a field of relevance to the position, i.e. innovation studies and/or energy and environment systems analysis. The applicant is expected to be experienced in carrying out analyses using the technological innovation systems (TIS) framework, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and to command novel quantitative approaches to gathering data and analysing them using econometrics. Familiarity with technical aspects of the steel industry, the Swedish energy context, environmental assessment of electric vehicles, and related systems approaches such as technology assessment will be considered assets. Demonstrable skill in programming (preferably Python) is also an asset.

The basis for assessment is the ability to develop and conduct high quality research. Research expertise is primarily considered. The applicants must be able to demonstrate documented research expertise through the quality of their doctoral thesis and/or other publications. The applications are assessed with regard to the following criteria: the quality of previous research output, and its links to the topic of the position; other qualifications proving the applicant's research skills.

Fluent English (written and spoken) is a requirement.

Applications must be written in English and include:

- CV
- Copies of grades and examination certificates
- List of publications
- Up to 3 representative publications (e.g. PhD thesis and academic papers)

- Account of other experience and competences of relevance to the position (not covered elsewhere in the application), e.g. policy work.
Applications that do not include items 1-5 above will not be considered.

The University applies individually set salaries. Please state the salary requested in your application. The researcher to be hired is expected to live in or relocate to the region, i.e. the Lund-Malmö-Copenhagen area.
