Here we have the research specialisations of Embedded Systems, and Innovation and Product Realisation. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
We are looking for a skilled Ph.D. in the area of grasping and manipulation in robotics, to join us in different research projects relating to the use of robots in manufacturing industry applications.

The tasks of the position mainly consist of research and supervision of master and bachelor students, in the areas of robotics, artificial intelligence and cyber-physical systems. The position will also include some tasks related to development and teaching in courses, both for students and professionals. The position is part of the production system research group with the purpose of applying computer science technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and robot control in manufacturing systems.

In addition, the appointment requires to actively act to create new funding, applications for research grants, and to participate in strengthening the research and managing of projects in collaboration with industrial and academic partners.

The candidate is expected to work closely with the MDH staff and other scientific partners, as well as the national industrial partners of the university.

Qualification requirements
The qualification requirement for appointment as a Researcher is degree of Doctor, or equivalent academic competence or other professional qualifications of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.

To be qualified for appointment as a Researcher the applicant must have demonstrated the academic skills required for the appointment. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.

Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria shall be based on the degree of skills required for the appointment. In general terms these assessment criteria shall include the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well.

Specific criteria include:

• Research experience and knowledge of manipulation and grasping in robotics.
• Research experience and participation in research projects related to manufacturing systems domain is considered a strength.
• Experience with empirical and experimental research conducted in industrial settings.
• Experience of different forms of collaborative research projects, in particular industrial cooperation research projects.
• Experience of supervision of master/bachelor thesis students.
• Experience in writing funding applications.
• Already developed academic and industrial networks.

Merit
Publication in leading conferences and journals, as well as a track record of collaboration with industrial partners are essential. International experience and a good understanding of robot manipulation and part grasping in industrial robot applications is an important aspect. In particular, experience in the fields of applied artificial intelligence in robotics and collaborative research with industry are considered of merit.

The applicant should have demonstrated the ability to carry out both independent and team-based research within national and international environment, as well as the potential applicability and technology transfer of his/her research via prototype tools developed in collaboration with peer colleagues.

Previous experience in teaching and supervision of students is a merit.
