Position description

The research profile DPAC targets dependable platforms for autonomous systems and control. It strengthens the interdisciplinary collaboration between the four research groups Safety-critical engineering, Formal modelling and analysis, Model-based engineering, and Robotics and avionics, within the research direction Embedded systems at Mälardalen University (MDH).

DPAC performs research in predictability and dependability in parallel architectures, autonomous systems and control, and design methodologies. DPAC has a wide industrial participation.

This research position focuses on requirements capture and validation methods of functional and extra-functional requirements in dependable autonomous systems and control. The position also covers design assurance methods to mitigate for design errors in requirements, design and implementation.

Qualification requirements

The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.

Industry experience with dependable systems and/or background in at least one of the following research areas will be preferred: Requirements capture, specification and management with focus on dependability properties or safety engineering/management of embedded systems development.

Preference will be given to applicants with industrial experience and/or a track record in high-quality publications.

Good communication skills in oral and written English are required.

Assessment criteria

A selection will be made among qualified research applicants. We use the following assessment criteria:
1. Documented subject knowledge of relevance to the area of research
2. Industrial experience (PhDs who have worked in industry or have experience in collaborating with industrial partners)
3. Track record of high-quality publications
4. Communication skills and ability to work both individually and in teams
