The School of Science and Technology at Örebro University is seeking a researcher in computer science for a permanent appointment.

We are looking for a researcher to be based at Örebro University's Centre for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS, www.oru.se/aass) who will carry out multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, computer science, and measurement technology. Our research in general is done in close partnership with world-leading corporations such as Volvo CE, Epiroc, and Husqvarna, but also with the public sector; and our research on the development of AI systems for mobile robots is recognised world-wide.

Our aim with this new recruitment is to further strengthen the Center's research competence within Computer Science towards the topics of hybrid reasoning, automated planning, multirobot coordination, and multiple vehicle routing, advancing the theoretical and practical foundations that allow fleets of mobile robots to operate in dynamic and uncertainn environments.

Duties and responsibilities
The open position relates in particular to research on hybrid reasoning, that is, addressing the general question of how to combine automated reasoning methods that account for heterogeneous metric and qualitative knowledge (e.g., knowledge about space, time and resources). Robot fleet automation, that is, planning and coordination for fleets of resourceconstrained autonomous robots, will serve a the primary application area of the developed techniques. Application-oriented work is to be pursued in cooperation with the Center's industrial partners.

In addition to scientific publications, the candidate is expected to develop their own research direction and contribute to projects. The candidate is expected to spend working hours mainly on research. The appointment may also include teaching, when there is a need within the organisation, in particular to facilitate the successful candidate to acquire qualifications for a teaching appointment at the University. The share of teaching may not exceed 20% of full-time.

In order to meet these goals, the candidate is expected to have a demonstrated research background and international publications in the research directions mentioned above. A solid theoretical background and excellent programming skills are also very important, as is the ability to develop real-world prototypical systems. It is not necessary to be familiar with the Swedish language, but proficiency in written/spoken English is mandatory.

Eligibility
Eligible for the appointment are applicants holding a doctoral degree in computer science or in related subject areas.

Assessment criteria
The assessment of the candidates is based on previous research and publication records and the suitability to the topics outlined above, as well as demonstrated programming and deployment skills. Teaching experience is also considered a merit. Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, is a requirement. We welcome personal skills such as abilities to cooperate, power to take initiative, as well as taking part in the research development of the lab.

Equality
Our ambition is to create a place of work that is characterised by gender equality and diversity. All genders are most welcome to apply.

Information
The position as researcher is a full-time, permanent position. The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Positions announced at Örebro University are, where appropriate, subject to a trial period.

For more information about the scientific aspects of this position, please contact Federico Pecora by email at federico.pecora@oru.se. For further information contact the Head of the Center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems, Amy Loutfi, amy.loutfi@oru.se.

Application
For the application to be complete, the following electronic documents must be included:

• Cover letter
• CV, including names of two academic references who may be contacted (if needed)
• An account of research qualifications
• Copies of relevant degree certificates
• Scientific publications for consideration (maximum of 10)

Only documents written in English, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish can be reviewed. The application deadline is 2018-10-10. We look forward to receiving your application!

We decline any contact with advertisers or recruitment agencies in the recruitment process.
As directed by the National Archives of Sweden (Riksarkivet), Örebro University is required to deposit one file copy of the application documents, excluding publications, for a period of two years after the appointment decision has gained legal force.
