The position will be placed in the Division of Solid State Physics, which is focused on different aspects of semiconductor physics, ranging from materials science via quantum physics to different applications. The division is at the center of the major interdisciplinary research environment within nanoscience and nanotechnology at Lund University - the Nanometer Structure Consortium at Lund University (nmC@LU). Lund Nano Lab is a central key facility for fabrication of material and devices on the nanoscale. The division is also heavily involved in the undergraduate education, especially within the "Engineering Nanoscience" program.

Dina arbetsuppgifter
The position will be part of a research group that deals with the electric and thermoelectric characterization of nanoelectronic devices, including for fundamental quantum transport. The central task of this position will be research into thermoelectric phenomena in nanostructures, primarily nanowires.
The aims are (i) to explore avenues to increasing the thermoelectric power factor in diffusive nanowires at different temperatures, including the use of hybrid organic/inorganic materials, and (ii) to further establish the use of thermopower as a characterization method for nanostructures for applied and fundamental physical studies.

An additional task will be to take responsibility for running, maintaining and improving a low-temperature, low-noise measurement system centered on a cryogen-free dilution refrigerator, and the surrounding laboratory. A certain amount of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level may be part of the job. In particular, the tasks will include day-to-day advising of one PhD student, and possibly periodic supervision of masters students. A certain amount of administration related to the above tasks will also be part of the duties.

In addition, it is expected that the scientist will participate in other activities at the Division, such as contribution to writing grant applications. It is expected that the scientist will want to establish a track record for a future faculty position, and will therefore be given the opportunity to participate in pedagogical training offered by the University.

Önskvärda kvalifikationer
REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must have a PhD in experiments on electron quantum transport and extensive, hands-on experience with dilution refrigerators. Extensive experience in advanced nanofabrication using electron-beam lithography in a clean-room environment is also required. The position requires documented experience with thermoelectric measurements on nanowires at cryogenic temperatures and prior experience with reconfiguring cryogenic equipment, and with day-to-day management of a cryogenic laboratory. Necessary are also an established track record of publications on experiments in electron quantum transport in prime journals, as well as excellent knowledge of written and oral English.

BASIS OF ASSESSMENT
The following are meriting for this position: documented experience with electron transport in hybrid systems consisting of inorganic nanowires and polymer-based materials; documented, successful participation in grant writing; postdoctoral experience with day-to-day advising of PhD student and/or masters students; experience in training undergraduate and/or masters student in nanofabrication and clean-room work.
