The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.
The Institute is composed of the following four departments:
The Department of Infectious Diseases
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology
The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology
The Department of Laboratory Medicine

At present, the institute has about 315 employees and approximately 450 million SEK in total assets
Duties
A research position is now available in the group of Professor Göran Landberg. The group conducts translational cancer research with a focus on the development of novel therapeutic strategies and diagnostic methods, particularly related to the tumor microenvironment. The projects encompass multiple cancer types and are carried out in close collaboration with academic partners, healthcare providers, and industry.
The work involves studies using clinically relevant model systems, analysis of patient-derived material, and application of advanced experimental techniques. The research is particularly focused on the tumor microenvironment and stromal components.
The successful candidate is expected to take an active role in ongoing projects, contribute to method development and data analysis, and participate in national and international collaborations. Duties also include contributing to grant applications and scientific communication.
The position is based at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research at the University of Gothenburg, in close proximity to Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The center is part of a strategic research initiative within the Sahlgrenska Academy, focusing on both basic and clinical cancer research.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who hold a PhD in a relevant field, such as experimental cancer research, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
Documented experience in experimental cancer research with relevance to tumor biology and/or the tumor microenvironment is required.
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be particularly competitive:
advanced cell culture systems, including three-dimensional (3D) model systems
work with complex, human-relevant model systems and/or patient-derived material
molecular biology techniques for analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins
analysis and interpretation of experimental data in multidisciplinary projects

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as participation in grant applications and scientific publishing, is considered an advantage.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Employment
The employment is full time and permanent with placement at the Institute of Biomedicine. Probationary employment could be applied. First day of employment as agreed.
