Researcher at the Linnaeus Center on Social Policy and Family Dynamics in Europe (SPaDE) and the Stockholm University SIMSAM Node on Demographic Research (SUNDEM), the Department of Sociology. Reference number SU 613-2086-12. Deadline for applications: July 15, 2012.

The Linnaeus Center on Social Policy and Family Dynamics in Europe (SPaDE) and the Stockholm University SIMSAM Node on Demographic Research (SUNDEM) announce a two-year position as researcher (forskare) for a researcher in the early stage of his/her academic career.

The Linnaeus Center on Social Policy and Family Dynamics in Europe is a research program financed for 2008?2018 by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). It is administered at the Stockholm University Demography Unit (SUDA), the Department of Sociology and led by Professor of Demography Elizabeth Thomson. The Center brings together expertise in policy studies and demography from SUDA, the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) and the Department of Human Geography and collaborates with scholars from throughout Europe. The overarching goal is to produce the best evidence for social policy effects on fertility and family change and to communicate this evidence to policy makers and the public. The Center has a clear multi-disciplinary orientation and welcomes applicants with a background in demography, economics, human geography, political science, sociology, or other related social sciences.

The Center?s research is to a large extent based on individual-level data of life-course histories linked to change and variation in social policies and other relevant social contexts. The research also involves the production and use of databases with macro-level indicators of policy contexts. For further information about the Center, consult its web page: www.su.se/spade.

The Stockholm University SIMSAM Node for Demographic Research (SUNDEM) is a research project financed for 2008?2013 by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) through the Swedish Initiative for research on Microdata in the Social and Medical Sciences (SIMSAM). The project is administered at the Stockholm University Demography Unit (SUDA), the Department of Sociology, and coordinated by Professor Gunnar Andersson. It brings together researchers on migration and family dynamics from SUDA and the Department of Human Geography and involves collaboration with register researchers in other Nordic and European countries. The overarching goal is to produce research that exploits the unique qualities that only register data have. See www.suda.su.se/simsam for further information.

Main tasks
