The normal gut microbiota represents 90% of the cells in the human body. By combining clinical and animal research we have demonstrated that the gut microbiota affects our physiology and metabolism. We are now recruiting an assistant researcher to investigate how dietary sugar affects the gut microbiota and metabolic disease.
Job assignments
By the use of gnotobiotic mice characterize the microbiota, their metabolites and the resulting effects on physiology and metabolism. The successful applicant should also clarify the underlying mechanisms.
Qualifications
PhD in for the position relevant topic such as molecular biology and/or physiology. Experience in microbiology is highly advantageous. It is imperative that the applicant is at ease collaborating with other scientists within a larger team. The successful candidate should have documented experience working with gnotobiotic mice, metabolic phenotyping, applying "gene silencing technology in vivo", as well as biochemical and molecular phenotyping using qRT-PCR and immune blotting. Experience in of Ussing chambers, RNAseq, and metagenomics analyses are advantageous.
