The Oriflame Skin Research Institute in the heart of Oriflame Cosmetics head office in central Stockholm is home to a multidisciplinary research team, where the objective is to discover and develop natural active ingredients and extracts to prevent skin ageing.

We are now seeking an accomplished Research Technician to complement the Skin biology team in our work to investigate the in vitro activity of the ingredients in cellular assays, as well as ex vivo in 3D skin models. The Research technician will be responsible for cell culturing, as well as performing biochemical, molecular and immuno-histochemical assays.

The research technician is responsible for accomplishing individual goals, meeting project timelines for the group and working together with other team members to build a highly efficient and collaborative team. The successful candidate will have broad expertise in cell- and molecular technologies as well as ideally having experience in immunohistochemistry and enjoy team work in a flexible and multidisciplinary environment.

The following skills are required:

1) Strong Expertise in Cell and Molecular Biology Techniques

• Human cell and tissue culture expertise. Experience in working with human skin cells and tissue eg-fibroblasts, keratinocytes, melanocytes are desirable.
• Protein and/or RNA extraction from cells and/or tissue
• Quantitative RT-PCR
• Immunoassays such as ELISA, Luminex and/or cellular imaging

2) Experience in histology & Immuno histochemistry

• Basic Histology procedures to include tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and staining of paraffin embedded tissue.
• Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence procedures
• Image analysis & photomicrographs

Experience

BMA/Lab technician with at least 5 years work experience in a relevant scientific discipline (Cell and molecular biology/histology), preferentially with industrial experience.

Ability to work in an English speaking environment.
