The organization has responsibility to provide Ericsson with world-class system concepts, technology innovations, and methodology. Rapidly increasing demands for mobile broadband access in combination with an emerging transformation of
society into a society where everything that benefits from being connected will be connected - the networked society - creates challenging and exiting opportunities for our organization.
Building on our experience from real network operations, profound knowledge about existing standards, and
forward looking research, we invent and master advanced concepts and solutions that shape today's and tomorrows mobile radio communication.
Within Ericsson Research, the research area Radio Access Technology is responsible for providing advanced system and signal processing concepts, including antenna and user terminal solutions. As Research Engineer within the Radio Access Technology department, you will have responsibility to
investigate, evaluate and propose improvements of radio access technologies used in existing standards such as WCDMA/HSPA, LTE, LTE-Advanced. You will also be part of the development of
concepts and solutions for future radio access technologies and standards. Mastering physical layer techniques is key (multiple access technologies, modulation, channel coding, parameter estimation, multi-antenna transmitter and receiver algorithms, etc). Understanding the interaction between link
and system performance, to ensure that proposed access solutions are enabling efficient overall performance is also crucial. Over time all staff will work with algorithm design, model and simulator tooldevelopment, simulations, and concept design. A wide range of additional opportunities, from standardization to field performance tasks, exist as well. This approach enables each researcher to develop a truly broad competence and a holistic view.
For the current open position, we are looking for a highly competent and driven researcher with genuine competence and experience form wireless communications, information theory, and signal processing research. Competence in control theory is further qualifying. Skill in structured object oriented programming, preferably c++ based, is also required, as computer simulations will be natural parts of the work, in addition to analytical evaluations. The work will be performed in small to mid-sized projects, where the results are typically targeting technology strategy, standardization or product
development. Projects also incorporate external research collaborations.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or M.Sc. with demonstrated experience and knowledge in communication theory, information theory, and signal processing. Competence in control theory is further qualifying.
Experience and good programming skills in c++ and MATLAB are desired, as well as strong knowledge of simulation and evaluation tool methodology.
At the personal level, you need good communication and teamwork skills. You should enjoy working with people having diverse backgrounds and competences. You should also have the ability to handle theoretical and practical research as well as the development aspects of the work. It is important that you have strong personal drive and a strong focus on the tasks at hand.
