About the role

As a Research Scientist - NGS-based Proteomics, you will play a key role in supporting AstraZeneca's translational science efforts by generating high-quality omics data from both preclinical and clinical samples. Working in a lab-based role, you will contribute hands-on expertise in molecular biology, automation technologies, and proteomics/transcriptomics workflows.

You'll be embedded within a highly collaborative environment where your work will directly support project teams focused on target biology, pharmacology, and patient stratification. With access to state-of-the-art technologies and world-class colleagues, you'll be empowered to deliver robust scientific data that inform critical research decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

Performing hands-on lab work in proteomics/transcriptomics, focusing on NGS-based approaches and automation.

Developing and optimizing automated workflows for high-throughput omics data generation.

Collaborating closely with fellow scientists to integrate new omics methodologies into ongoing drug discovery and development projects.

Maintaining and calibrating laboratory automation platforms to ensure reliable and reproducible results.

Documenting experimental methods and results with clarity and in line with regulatory standards.

Supporting the implementation of cutting-edge protocols for simplifying multi-omic research through automation.

Ensuring adherence to all safety, health, environmental, and compliance standards.

About you

We're looking for a scientifically curious, driven, and collaborative individual with a deep interest in omics research and automation. You thrive in a lab environment and enjoy problem-solving, teamwork, and exploring new technologies. Your strong molecular biology background combined with technical expertise makes you a valuable contributor in any fast-paced, interdisciplinary setting.

Qualifications:

Essential for the role:

Master's degree or higher in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience in a relevant academic or industry setting.

Strong theoretical and practical understanding of molecular biology and omics technologies.

Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: NGS, transcriptomics, proteomics, RNA-seq, DNA-seq, genotyping, or mass spectrometry.

Experience with automation platforms and their application in a laboratory setting.

Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications:

Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or academic research environments.

Strong publication record or experience presenting scientific data.

Proficiency with laboratory automation (liquid handlers, scheduling software).

Familiarity with operating under regulatory standards such as GLP or ISO15189.

Experience with LIMS and/or statistical data analysis tools.
