Are you a curious scientist with experience of hands on in vivo work in a molecular biology environment and have great knowledge of CRISPR based editing and NGS analysis? Are you also looking for your next career step at a company where we work together to push the boundaries of science? Great, AstraZeneca might have the next role for you!

We are seeking a motivated Research Scientist to join AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is an exciting opportunity in our Genome Engineering team where you will focus on the in vivo delivery of CRISPR/cas9 reagents and assessing the genome editing outcome. Our team is part of the bigger Discovery Sciences organisation - and we have responsibility for the generation of novel genome editing technologies to support projects in all phases of the drug discovery pipeline. We have a focus on target identification, target validation, disease model generation and the therapeutic use of stem cells.

Thrive in a place where the brightest and most curious minds seamlessly come together in our inclusive environment.

What you will do:
With your knowledge and experience in genome editing you will have the opportunity to apply this to gene therapy projects. The role is focused on conducting laboratory-based activities, applying in vivo knowledge and skills to deliver reagents to mice, collect samples for biomarker assays and assess editing efficency by next generation sequencing. You will drive project delivery and scientific innovation, participate actively in problem solving and work globally with AstraZeneca colleagues and collaborators.

You will also:

* Perform in vivo genetic editing by delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 reagents to mice.
* Collect samples and perform biomarker assays.
* Quantify the efficiency of in vivo genome editing.
* Analyse data and present results.

Essential in the role:

* You should hold a degree or have significant relevant experience working in with small animals and a molecular biology environment.
* Licensed and proficient in 'hands on' in vivo work, delivery of reagents and collection of samples for biomarker assay.
* Strong knowledge and experience with core molecular biology techniques.
* Expertise with CRISPR based editing and NGS analysis of genome editing outcomes.

We also believe that our new colleague is collaborative and a strong team player with ability to think innovative and communicate in a good way with all. An independent, positive, goal oriented and problem-solving attitude is also a big plus. Good organisational, data management and documentation skills are required and you should be comfortable in presenting your results. English language, both spoken and in writing, is essential.

Desirable in the role:

* Perform routine laboratory assays such as ELISA and possibly develop novel assays.
