Would you like to work with future technologies in the area of Exhaust Emission Control and have a passion for exploring and driving research projects within this area?

The Exhaust After-Treatment Technology group within Powertrain Advanced Engineering is seeking a research project leader to strengthen our capabilities when it comes to driving and executing projects.

The position offers the opportunity to work in a creative and multi-cultural work environment with the mission to explore novel concepts and technologies aiming to meet upcoming, more stringent emission legislations. You will in this position initiate and execute different research projects. This will be done in close collaboration with experts from different disciplines within and outside the Exhaust After-Treatment area. The scope of work will stretch from concept generation, system simulation to testing of full scale prototypes in engine bench or demonstrator vehicles.

Main Responsibilities
• Define project proposals
• Plan, drive and follow up project work
• Coordinate activities with other departments
• Report progress and status according to the AE governance structure
• Network within Volvo and with external actors

Required Qualifications
• Ph.D or Master degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in the automotive industry
• Experience in leading development projects and teams
• Good understanding of the Exhaust After-treatment sub-system technology area and its industrial applications
• Good knowledge of engine combustion fundamentals and controls
• Experience from engine and EATS testing
• Experience from engine and EATS system simulation
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English

Who we are:
The exhaust after-treatment technology group consists of a team of dedicated experts that are responsible for developing and analyzing new exhaust after-treatment technologies to meet future emission regulations. We work with development of exhaust after-treatment technologies using Synthetic-gas Catalyst Tests (SCAT) for small scale catalyst samples, multi-cylinder engine test cells for full-scale prototypes and systems, modeling and simulation of exhaust after-treatment components and systems.

As a research project leader, you will need to have excellent communication skills in order to be able to establish cooperation and engagement within the team. Lastly, it is desirable that you have the capacity to work across different technology disciplines.
