Titel: Research Fellow (forskarassistent) in Physiology, especially Circulatory Physiology
Beskrivning av arbetsuppgifter: SUBJECT AREA DESCRIPTION:Physiology is research on how different parts of our body interact and how our individual organs control different processes and focus on determining how different mechanisms, from molecules to organs and the whole living system, work together to maintain life. It is well known today that inflammatory reactions during the newborn period can lead to brain damage, which in turn causes developmental disorders and neurological disabilities such as cerebral palsy. A particularly vulnerable group is children born prematurely, where treatment options are missing today. The aim of our research is to understand how different mechanisms lead to brain damage and to develop neuroprotective therapies. JOB ASSIGNMENTS: The project will focus on damage to the premyelinating oligodendrocytes, which is associated with a high risk of developmental neurological symptoms and disabilities. We wish to recruit an enthusiastic research fellow (forskarassistent), who has an interest in both neuroscience and laboratory work, to the research group in perinatal medicine. The research project includes analysis of RNAseq after brain injury, evaluation of premature brain injury using transgenic mice through various interventions. The tasks include further to compiling data for publication, presentation of the results for colleagues (local as well as national and international) and the supervision of doctoral students together with the principal investigator. Possibility of teaching is available. The work requires the ability to independently plan, implement and analyze the experimental work.
