GreenIron is on the exciting journey of reducing the climate footprint of the world's metal, mining and manufacturing industries. We are now recruiting a Research Engineer who will become a vital part of our R&D team to develop our process and technical offering to our customers. Is it you?
Our vision is to become the global metals and mining sector's most respected and innovative CO2-free company by leading the industry transformation from a linear to a circular economy. As Research Engineer you will play a central role in the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies that supports the industry's transformation from a linear to a circular economy. You will be part of our experienced Research & Development team but also closely with other company functions, especially the Projects, Operations and Commercial team. As we are a green company with sustainability at our core, it is highly advantageous if you have an interest in and experience with environmental and sustainability issues.
You will be based in Stockholm and be part of our R&D team. In this role you will collaborate closely with colleagues across the company, external partners and the entire R&D team. The position involves occasional travel to operational sites, customer locations and industry conferences, providing opportunities to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. You will report to Chief Technology Officer Linda Ahl.
Responsibilities
Working as a Research Engineer at GreenIron you will be working in a creative and innovative environment with colleagues that are all striving towards the same mission and vision. Team spirit and helping each other is part of our culture you will work in. Daily work offers a large variation. In particular, the role includes:
Develop and optimise GreenIron's complete process chain, including agglomeration, reduction, and post-processing stages
Conduct in-depth analysis and present your findings to inform decision making and drive improvements
Provide technical assistance to other departments, such as sales and production, ensuring smooth operations and successful outcomes
Engage in externally funded projects, working closely with project partners
Promote and nurture a spirit of innovation within the team, contributing to the continuous evolution of our technology and methodologies

Background and experience
A Master's degree or higher (PhD) in Metallurgy, Material science or Physical engineering
Work experience from Steel and/or Foundry industry is preferable
A team player who can share knowledge and experiences to collectively arrive at the best solution
Fluent in English and Swedish. Knowledge in more languages is an advantage

You are naturally curios, collaborative, and analytical, with a humble attitude and a strong sense of commitment and drive. You excel at navigating complex situations, drawing insightful conclusions, and translating them into practical, actionable solutions. Your communication skills are adaptable, allowing you to effectively convey ideas and information across various contexts, whether interacting with internal teams or external stakeholders.
