Position Description
Research Engineer Emerging Technologies identify and evaluate new, promising technologies for future generations of Volvo CE products. Evaluation includes concept evaluation and documenting results. Identifying and evaluating includes a lot of collaboration with internal and external partners (i.e. Academia and suppliers). As a research engineer you have expert competence in specific technology area and responsibility to lead technical activities in projects and small investigations during early AE phase. Research engineers focus on future trends, challenges and opportunities with a broad technical perspective covering all different technology areas.
The Research Engineer System Controls is expetcted to take a complete machine system level approach with controls perspective, support development of future technology for construction equipment with controls competence. Take the responsibility to build Volvo CE competence within sophisticated control strategies and algorithms. Secure that the knowledge is shared within Volvo CE and within Volvo Group and support rapid prototyping methods development.

Technical leader in early end of AE projects
Technology "scout" (identify promising technologies in embedded systems area)
Expert in the field of system controls
Drive future machine and site functionality
Main tasks:
Contribute to long-term technology roadmap (with expertise perspective)
Technical leader in advanced engineering projects
Networking internally and externally
Expertize competence in controls area
Key Skills:
Expert in control systems design with focus on functionality development
Knowledge building and sharing
Simulink modelling
Rapid prototyping
Positive and open mindset and forward thinking
Education:
Ph.D. or M.Sc. within relevant area
5-10 years working experience or unique technical knowledge in related area
Additional requirements:
Travel up to 20%
English
