Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology
The Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, SLU, is looking for a Research engineer in plant cell wall chemistry. The department forms, together with the Department of Plant Physiology, Umeå University, Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC; www.upsc.se), one of Europe's strongest research centres in experimental plant biology. Within UPSC, around 200 people are employed, including 30 research leaders. The research at UPSC is focused on plant biology and plant biotechnology, with research groups working on, for example, wood biology, plant cell biology, plant molecular biology, ecophysiology and forest genetics.

Duties:
The department is recruiting a research engineer to work within the area of cell wall chemistry, with emphasis on the analysis of glycoproteins and other cell wall components. The applicant is expected to work in close collaboration with researchers at UPSC, especially within the biopolymer analytical facility (https://www.upsc.se/platforms/cell-wall-analysis/4845-biopolymer-analytical-platform.html).

Qualifications:
To qualify for employment, you should have obtained a doctorate degree in plant physiology. Particular importance will be given to scientific skills within the areas of plant cell wall biology and chemistry. Experience of working with different analytical techniques, particularly LC-MS/MS, as well as good ability to communicate in written and spoken English is also required.

Assessment criteria:
On consideration for appointment as Research engineer, emphasis is primarily put on qualitative indicators of the applicant's skills and the ability for research collaborations. Importance will also be given to communicative ability.
