Diabetes is a today a growing disease that imposes a major burden on our society. Our research aims at providing a better understanding of the mechanisms behind pancreas development and pancreatic diseases, in particular diabetes. In this enterprise we combine genetic models for development and disease of the pancreas with the use of new imaging technology (optical projection tomography, OPT) that allows studies of the pancreatic constitution with unprecedented resolution. Our research also aims at improving this technology for the specific use of pancreas imaging. www.umu.se/ucmm.
