Information about the division/the project
The Geotechnics Research Group (GRG) in the Division of Geology and Geotechnics at ACE focuses on modelling and characterisation of complex geomaterials, such as natural and stabilised soils. The research activities aim to bridge fundamental understanding and advanced modelling & testing capabilities with application in engineering practice.
Job description
The research engineer is expected to design, build, maintain and calibrate existing and new laboratory equipment, develop control programs, perform testing and processing of test results in Geomechanics Laboratory at ACE, as well as assist in other testing and field instrumentation tasks, as part of the team of research engineers at ACE. She/he is expected to support and facilitate PhD students and postdocs in their experimental testing, in collaboration with the academics. The research engineer is expected to keep the lab well-structured and in order and to introduce new users to the lab, making sure rules and regulations are followed. The most important role is to create and preserve institutional memory, i.e. documentation, calibration, experience in procedures and control systems, health and safety and non-interrupted continuation of laboratory and field testing activities. Occasionally, there will also be need to fulfill industry contracts for specialised testing and instrumentation. Some of the testing will take place in external facilities and thus will require travel, as well as flexibility and out of box thinking.

Qualifications
• MSc in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or other suitable discipline.
• Experience in geotechnical testing, developing control software and data processing.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English.
• Ability to understand Swedish (or willingness to learn Swedish) as needed for understanding the regulations related to handling of chemicals and other health and safety procedures.
