Job Summary
As a Research Engineer the main focuses are within corrosion and mechanical properties, but you also contribute with general engineering knowledge in several areas. One main task is method development and you support your colleagues with practical advice on how testing can be conducted. Further, you help to keep the laboratory updated and in good shape and, when needed, you also conduct tests yourself. One other important area is to contribute with your knowledge to research and development projects, which, depending on the project's needs, may involve everything from mechanism studies to recommending testing approaches and setting up test matrices. You respond to customers' questions and carry out studies for customers, often of both a theoretical and practical nature.
We are looking for someone with a M.sc degree in Materials engineering. Several years of work experience or doctoral studies in relevant fields are very advantageous, further you need to be an experienced laboratory engineer with the ability to carry out the practical work.
You have comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in corrosion testing methodology and mechanical testing, as well as several years' experience with methods development. Additionally, you possess broad general engineering knowledge concerning corrosion and mechanical testing. Knowledge of electrochemical corrosion is advantageous, as is experience of heat treatment. Your computer and electronics skills are good, so that you can support the unit with problem solving in regard to computer hardware and software. Also having the ability to work with the interface between computers and our equipment is a great advantage. General materials knowledge and specific knowledge of Sandvik's materials and applications is a plus. As we work in an international company, you need very good skills in English, in both speaking and writing. To be well-suited to this position, you also need to be able to carry out informal conversation in Swedish.
We place great weight on your personal qualities, characterized by having a knack for the practical and the ability to come up with and carry out solutions. You have a strong desire and the drive to develop our operations. You work effectively with others but can also work independently to move your work forward. You are flexible and adapt to priorities and prevailing conditions. You have the ability to plan and structure the daily work, both independently and together with colleagues.
We are a company with an open-minded culture, actively working to create a workplace that is characterized by diversity and inclusion.
