Emerging Technologies team within the Advanced Engineering organization is Volvo CE's department for identifying and evaluating new promising technologies. Technologies that will provide value to the customers in our future generations of products and services. Our research engineers are specialists in specific technology areas and collaborate with other AB Volvo specialists and external partners, such as academia and suppliers, to create and prove new conceptual solutions. The research engineers also share knowledge and collaborate within the technology organization enabling the new solutions to further mature and reach the customers in the end. Emerging Technologies team focus on future business from an engineering perspective - we take responsibility for technology push within Volvo CE.

Main tasks;
Research engineer Operator Assistance - with focus on developing operator assistance functionality and automated functions. The tasks include short-term focused operator support, mid-term focused semi-automated functions and long-term fully autonomous machine functionality. As a research engineer you observe and analyze construction industry customers and machine operators to find their challenges and needs, you have insight in, and continuously watch technology development in research, development and related industries. Research engineers have the right technical competence to define, develop and prove concepts, in teams and individually. Once concepts are evaluated you document the knowledge and share information to colleagues that will further develop towards industrialization if the results are promising enough.

Education and professional qualifications;
• Master of Science or PhD in robotics, computer science or other relevant education
• Ability to analyze energy flows on machine level
• Mechanics

• Matlab + Simulink + Stateflow
• Visual Studio
• Eclipse
• Java programming
• C/C++ programming
• .Net platform programming
