Division
A permanent position as research engineer is available for a motivated individual at the core facility Karolinska Institutet Mouse Models (KIMM) at Comparative Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.

KIMM is a newly formed core facility at Karolinska Institutet focusing on the production, preservation and phenotyping of genetically modified mice for internal and external research groups. KIMM is situated at the recently opened animal research facility Wallenberg Laboratory and consolidates several facilities like the Karolinska Center for Transgene Technology, Clinical Chemistry, Genetic Physiology and others. KIMM is operated as service-for-a-fee utility but does also aid in establishing joint-projects with experts in the field. 

Duties
The successful candidate will work on the behavioral phenotyping of mice (rotarod, elevated maze etc.), small animal surgeries (implantation of transponders and mini-pumps etc.) and other invasive procedures on mice including administration via several techniques, perfusion of mice, organ and tissue sampling and other procedures.

Besides this the candidate will support the animal technicians at the Wallenberg Laboratory in the control and maintenance of the mice to be phenotyped.

Entry requirements
To qualify, the candidate must hold a degree in biomedicine or equivalent, have a commitment to science and be service-oriented with good organizational ability plus should possess good written and oral communication skills in English. Previous meritorious experience of operating similar services will be important in the selection of the successful candidate. 

The candidate should have a research animal education equal to FELASA-B level or higher, not older than 8 years. If the applicant does not hold a FELASA-B accreditation it is expected that the candidate take the course LAS-R provided by Karolinska Institutet at the earliest convenience. Skills in behavioral phenotyping and small animal surgery are required, as well as basic skills in handling of mice.

Further techniques in laboratory animal science like preparation of organs and tissues, perfusion of mice, tissue staining and embedding are beneficial.
