The Biomaterials innovation organisation focuses on identifying business opportunities and developing new products in markets for renewable materials and bio-based chemicals. Our aim is to work closely with our customers to understand their strategies and devise solutions to support and boost their competitive advantage.

You will perform critical experimental lab work, such as evaluating new hypotheses, test formulations and analyse results, which is vital for new material development. Sample preparation will be important when validating that new material innovations reach desired properties set in close collaboration with customers. This position is based in Stora Enso's Innovation Centre in Stockholm. This is a temporary position, until the end of 2021.

Responsibilities and tasks

Plan and conduct material development by hands-on experimentation in the laboratories
Develop, modify and document methods for characterization
Perform material characterization to verify that critical specifications are met
Document experimental data and findings in reports and communicate to the team
Consider safety throughout all aspects of work and ensure safety standards in the laboratory are in line with procedures and routines.

Qualifications

Are you the one? In order to succeed in this role, you should have a Master of Science degree in material science or chemistry and a minimum of two years' experience of laboratory work. Experience in polymeric materials, paint/binders or cosmetic formulation is considered an advantage.

Fluent skills in spoken and written English are required, other languages are an advantage.

As a person, you are adaptive, eager to learn and appreciate a dynamic work environment. You enjoy working independently in a laboratory environment and consider yourself structured and well-organized. Work is performed in project teams; it is therefore crucial that you have good teamwork and communication skills.
