Design Engineering is a department within Research Centre Trollhättan. The Research Centre in Trollhättan is a part of the Global Research and Technology organisation at GKN Aerospace and currently we are 75 employees. Primarily the employees at the department work with concept design and definition of new technology in aero engine modules. We work together with the two other Research departments Engineering Methods and Process Engineering. We have continuous cooperation with the core engineering organisation responsible for product development programmes. We organize work in technology projects where we develop new product concepts and implement new design tools. Today we are 21 employees and growing.
The department of Design Engineering now has an open position for a Design Engineer with emphasis on design for automation and automation of design and analysis of aero engine structures. You are an Engineer with a strong competence profile in product design in general and interest in automation of design processes in particular that can complement our competence base to design future engine components
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for an Engineer with a strong competence in product design in general and skills and interest in automation of design process and design for automation in particular that can complement our competence base to design future engine components.
• You will primarily work with design and development of product technology for cold & hot aero engine structures in metallic material but also composites.
• You are expected to take an active role in design for automation and automation of design tools in our new product demonstrator programs
• As Design Engineer you will be contributing to the product definition that integrates aspects of product cost, producability & technical requirements to a well-balanced product. The work involves implementation and development of scripts in NX CAD and CAM System, Team Centre as well as python scripting.
• In general our work is done in internal technology development projects, technology demonstrators and in research collaborations often done in bilateral or multilateral collaboration with our partners in the EU as well as in the USA. The operational model for Research Center Trollhättan is based on monthly team sprints where sprint objectives are adjusted based on continuous learning in the program and teams. Perform activities within design teams to optimize products and methods to defined program targets.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
• You are an engineer with an MSc degree in Product Design, Solid Mechanics or similar. Industrial experience of Engine Component Design is a merit.
• You have an interest to develop within the field of design and analysis of metallic/composite structures
• You have experience and is interested to develop within the field automation of design. Skills in scripting in NX and Knowledge Fusion is a merit.
• Knowledge of CAM tools, particularly NX for manufacturing is a merit. Interest is a must.
• You have a good understanding of the customers' needs and a good ability to communicate with those as well as with our research partners
• You have a strong drive to explore and implement new processes and engineering methods and tools in our products
• You have good social skills, the ability to create effective networks and can take on a technical responsibility role
• You are proficient in English, which the GKN Group language
• Knowledge of Swedish is considered favourable
