At the Department of Oncology-Pathology basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out.

Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department. About 30 research groups with various cancer research profiles are active at the department and we have around 110 PhD students. The Department of Oncology-Pathology is responsible for undergraduate courses in Pathology, Oncology and Forensic Medicine for medical students, as well as for Tumor biology courses for biomedicine students and Pathology courses for opticians.

A research coordinator position is available in the Cancer proteomics Mass spectrometry research group, headed by Professor Janne Lehtiö at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab, www.scilifelab.se). Karolinska Institutet is one of the four founding universities for SciLifeLab, which is a national infrastructure and research center for technology driven life sciences. The Lehtiö group is a translational group of scientists with a drive to improve human proteome analysis by developing new methods that can be applied to improve personalized cancer treatment. The Lehtiö research group is a partner of several EU-projects, an active member of the Cancer Core Europe (https://www.cancercoreeurope.eu/), and is leading the proteomics work as well as the development of the clinical implementation tool: The Molecular Tumor Board Portal together with Tamborero (https://www.scilifelab.se/news/portal-to-help-interpret-cancer-data). The research group is also closely associated with the Clinical Proteomics Mass Spectrometry facility that provides fee-for-service sample analysis as well as support to plan and perform larger in-depth proteomics project.

Your mission
We are looking for an outstanding research coordinator to the clinical proteomics research group. You will be a key person to manage a portfolio of EU-projects, monitor scientific tasks and coordinate the interaction with external collaborators. You will work closely with our group and partners and coordinators of the EU-projects to facilitate the successful execution of the activities and provide support for scouting new funding opportunities. You will also be involved in ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory policies, with special emphasis in those related to the clinical setting. The work also includes scientific outreach activities and dissemination of results. The work involves a combination of administrative and communicative tasks and places a great emphasis on organisation, planning, independence, initiative, and precision. In summary, project coordination, interdisciplinary networking and outreach are central components of the work.

Your profile
Requirement and qualifications

To succeed in this role, you need to be a structured and service-oriented quick thinker who can have many activities running simultaneously. It is required that you have experience in writing funding applications and coordinating research and innovation projects in an international context. You are responsive, communicative and have good social skills with the ability to create good relationships in the work group as well as with clients and stakeholders in the business.
The position requires:

- PhD degree in biology, medicine or other related relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing European Projects and International consortia
- Experience in science management and coordination of research
- Knowledge of funding sources and international collaborations
- Experience working in a clinical setting
- Experience in science outreach
- Excellent speaking and writing skills in English.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, demonstrated teamwork abilities
