The position is placed in the research group of Prof.
Lars Holmgren at the Department of Oncology and Pathology, BioClinicum, Karolinska Institutet. We are looking for passionate and creative minds to assistant our team in ongoing studies on the possible molecular treatment for cardiovascular diseases.
Your mission
We aim to study the role of the AmotL2 protein in vascular development. This protein family was discovered by the group and has been shown to be involved in cell migration, polarity, cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell-cell contact formation. The successful candidate will be part of a team that studies how mechanical forces affect normal aortic function as well as the progression of vascular disease. More specifically, the molecular mechanisms how mechanical forces are relayed between endothelial cells, how this affects morphogenesis, nuclear positioning and chromosomal organization.
Your profile
To qualify, the applicant must hold a bachelor's degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate in a relevant field. The applicant must have more than 3 months of experience in experimental research and be well educated in the areas of developmental biology, tumor biology and confocal imaging. Experience in bioinformatics is a plus. Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English is a requirement.
The position will be temporary with good possibilities for prolongation.
