hela Sverige We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant/laboratory assistant in Thomas Helleday's laboratory at the Division of Translational Medicine and Chemical Biology.
Karolinska Institutet is one of the leading medical universities in Europe. Through research and education, Karolinska Institutet contributes to improving human health. Our vision, within the Helleday Laboratory, Division Translational Medicine and Chemical Biology, is to translate the findings from our basic research programmes on DNA repair and survival mechanisms within cancer cells, into identification of novel anti-cancer targets and development of anti-cancer drugs with minimal side-effects. Today we have taken discovery projects into pre-clinical phase and are presently planning for initiating clinical trials during next year.

We are looking for a research assistant to support the research group with routine lab work and to help maintain good organization and order in the lab. Tasks include the following;
• Stock maintenance, and ordering.
• Responsible for deliveries, both incoming and outgoing. Registration of incoming chemicals in KLARA database.
• Support with routine lab work e.g. aliquoting reagents, making agar plates, preparing buffers and weighing substances.
• Updating databases of substances, antibodies, restriction enzymes etc.
Additional tasks and responsibilities can also be considered according to the applicants abilities.
Qualifications and entry requirements
You have an interest in working in a research environment. You have a strong work ethic and you are responsible, resourceful, careful, flexible and service-oriented. You have good organizational skills and you can work both independently and as part of a team. You are social and helpful and you appreciate an international workplace.
Good knowledge of English is a requirement. Swedish is not a requirement. Previous experience from a laboratory-environment is an advantage but not a requirement. The candidate's personal skills will be highly valued.
