Agricultural Sciences at the Department of Soil and Environment, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala. The Department is housed in the Soil-Water-Environment Centre and conducts research, A position as a temporary research assistant is available within the faculty of Natural Resources and environmental monitoring and education for sustainable land use.
Duties:
Conduct research in soil science, with emphasis on phosphorus cycling in agricultural soils. We are interested in how so-called stable pools of phosphorus affect the long-term supply of phosphorus for crops, and to what extent fertilizer recommendations may need to be adjusted to take this into account. The task is to, in collaboration with other researchers, design mathematical models that are able to describe how the stable pools affect the plant availability of phosphorus. Basic data for the modelling in the form of phosphorus balances and extraction results on soil samples are available. The work is conducted within the project "Long-term phosphorus supply in soils - evaluation of P-AL and the significance of stable P forms" funded by Swedish Farmer's Foundation for Agricultural Research.
Qualifications:
We welcome applicants with a master's degree in soil sciences or geosciences, preferably with a focus on soil chemistry or geochemistry. Furthermore, you should have experience of using mathematical models. Programming experience is a plus.
