The Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies, SLU, Umeå, is looking for a research assistant that will help with the development of a bibliographic database of publications on data quality and standardisation in citizen science and other tasks related to data quality in citizen science.
The position is available at the Megafauna and Sustainability unit of the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies at The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå, Sweden. The department offers a creative and stimulating environment and performs internationally recognised basic and applied research, education and environmental monitoring in the research areas: animal ecology, aquatic ecology, molecular ecology and restoration ecology (see

Duties:
The successful candidate will perform a systematic review and other tasks within the Vinnova funded project "ARenas for co-operation through Citizen Science" (ARCS) work package on Data quality and standardization, which is led by Dr Tim Hofmeester. You will collaborate with ARCS team members within the "data quality and standardization" work package, reading and tagging papers developing a bibliographical database of publications on data quality and standardization in citizen science. Based on this, the candidate will assist in summarizing this information, both written and visual, for publication, amongst others on the ARCS platform.
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold an MSc in environmental sciences, environmental communication or similar. We are looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented candidate with documented experience with citizen science and involving society in science. The successful candidate should have knowledge of citizen science literature and bibliometric analyses. Familiarity with current developments and central stakeholders, both in Sweden and internationally, in the field of citizen science will count as a merit. The successful candidate should have experience in collaborative and capacity-building projects, preferably in the field of citizen science. A basic understanding of the Swedish language will be seen as a strong merit.
