Background
The research assistant will be affiliated with the Centre for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS), which carries out multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision and measurement technology. The work will be done in the context of the DARKO project, funded through the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. DARKO sets out to realize a new generation of agile production robots that have energy-efficient elastic actuators to execute highly dynamic motions; are able to operate safely within unknown, changing environments; are easy (cost-efficient) to deploy; have predictive planning capabilities to decide for most efficient actions while limiting associated risks; and are aware of humans and their intentions to smoothly and intuitively interact with them. This position is specifically intended for a work package within DARKO that deals with anthropomorphic intention communication.
Duties and responsibilities
The selected applicant will work with research on anthropomorphic intention communication within DARKO. The work includes development of demonstrators, planning and setup of experiments, scientific dissemination, and cooperation with other partners in the project.
Qualifications
The person we are looking for has experience with eye-tracking, human-robot-interaction (HRI), intention communication from robot to human, analysis of human behaviour in the vicinity of robots and how to carry out experiments in HRI. Expertise in programming in C++/Python is required. The person should also have experience in conducting and publishing research in robotics and artificial intelligence. At least a Master's degree in computer science or another relevant area is required.
Great importance will be attached to your personal qualities; the ability to work independently and engage with other people in a way that instils confidence; and a good track-record when it comes to cooperation.
We expect you to be flexible and open to change and that you take a quality-driven and responsible approach to your duties.

This is a 20% part-time and fixed-term position for 6 months. At Örebro University, salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience (and where appropriate, positions are subject to a trial period).
