The University of Gothenburg tackles society's challenges with diverse knowledge. 56 000 students and 6 600 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract scientists and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future. The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.

The Institute is composed of the following four departments:

• The Department of Infectious Diseases
• The Department of Microbiology and Immunology
• The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology
• The Department of Laboratory Medicine

At present, the institute has about 360 employees and approximately 450 million SEK in total assets.

A research assistant position is available in Bioinformatics to study gene regulation by MYCN oncogene using human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) derived trunk neural crest cells (tNCC) in Tanmoy Mondal lab at the Laboratory Medicine, Institute of Biomedicine at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The Lab studies MYCN-mediated oncogenesis using human tNCC model, to understand NB disease from a developmental perspective which can be exploited further for therapeutic intervention. The lab also has an interest in SARS-CoV-2 RNA biology and host-viral interaction.

Responsibilities include analysis of RNA-seq and ChIP-seq data derived from NB cell lines and NB tumor samples to understand how oncogenic activation of MYCN drives tumor formation in Neuroblastoma. The researcher will work in close collaboration with basic and clinical researchers in Sweden and Germany to take forward observations obtained in the laboratory to design novel treatment strategies for Neuroblastoma.

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with at least having master's degree in the field related to the described job. Having a recent PhD in relevant subject is advantageous but not required.
