As an R&D manager at 3M's Global Center of Excellence for Welding within the Personal Safety Division you will provide leadership for a laboratory responsible for development of industry leading new products and technology in the area of personal protective equipment for the global welding market. In addition to site responsibility you will be a core member of a global business team responsible for
riving global growth.
To succeed you must have a proven track record of leading R&D teams in the commercialization of new products, the fielding of innovative new technologies, and the operations of an efficient and agile laboratory. In the position you will set strategic direction and provide guidance to the Gagnef lab and facilitate interactions with other global and regional 3M labs to drive collaboration and alignment. You will also become a member of the Gagnef site management team.
Primary Responsibilities,
• Drive the build and execution of the new product and technology pipeline,
• Fulfill the role of R&D head within the global product line business teams for Welding Products,
• Contribute as a member of the global laboratory management team for Personal Safety Division to continuously improve the R&D capability of the Division,
• Professional development of the individuals in the group and continuous improvement of the effectiveness and capability of the team,
• Communicate and interact with the global 3M matrix to continuously improve the integration, visibility, interactions and alignment with the rest of 3M.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline from an accredited university,
• 5 or more years R&D, product development, or other technical management experience in the area of electronic, electro-mechanical, and/or mechanical based products,
• Experience in setting strategic direction and operating goals for an R&D organization,
• Broad experience in intellectual property,
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
• Proficient in English.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred),
• 10+ years of management leadership experience,
• Experience leading product development for products utilizing mechanical design (specifically design of plastic injection molded components), electronics, portable/rechargeable power or wireless communications,
• Experience within the safety products or similar regulated industry,
• Fluent or proficient in both Swedish and English,
• Experience leading/managing within a matrixed, multi-national company,
• Proven record of effective written and verbal communications to team members, peers and key stakeholders,
• Experience in other functional areas such as manufacturing, quality, business, etc.
