hela Sverige Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At Stegra, we're building an impact-driven, sustainable company - and we need a diverse, inclusive team to make it happen.
If you share our passion but don't meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the perfect fit for this role, or another as we grow.
At Stegra, we're not just building a plant, we're proving that sustainable industry is possible. And to do that, we need people like you.
Join a team where safety comes first. Where we support each other, learn as we go, and make space for everyone to grow and contribute. This is your chance to be part of something big - while being closer to nature and leading a balanced, purposeful life.
What you'll do
Do you want to help shape and secure high-quality emergency and rescue response capabilities in a cutting-edge green industrial environment?
We are now looking for an Rescue and Emergency Lead for Stegra's production site in Boden Operations. In this role, you will report to our Fire, Rescue & Crisis Manager and be part of our Safety and Security function. The team is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our people and supporting safe and effective operations across all areas and facilities.
As an Rescue and Emergency Lead, you will hold a key position within Stegra's industrial emergency and rescue organization. Working closely with the Manager, you will ensure that the company has the right capabilities to manage risks and potential incidents within the facility. Your mission is to safeguard personnel, the environment, the facility, and the surrounding community.
The role spans strategic, tactical, and operational responsibilities, with a strong focus on planning, establishing, and developing the emergency response function - including preventive safety measures. You will take a leading role in coordinating and operationally directing internal and external emergency and rescue resources. You will also work operationally yourself and participate in the on-call duty organization.
Examples of responsibilities include:
Ensuring the operational readiness of Stegra's internal emergency and rescue response team (staffing, equipment, vehicles, and communication).
Leading and managing incident planning based on the facility's risk profile and critical scenarios.
Coordinating scheduling of on-call personnel in collaboration with responsible managers.
Establishing, developing, and maintaining structures for incident command and operational execution.
Planning, leading, and evaluating training, exercises, and educational activities.
Serving in the on-call emergency, rescue, and/or crisis management duty organization.
What you'll bring
You're curious and believe progress happens when we work together. You challenge old ways of thinking and treat others with respect. At Stegra, we value people who take initiative, build trust, and contribute to a workplace where everyone can perform at their best.
For this role specifically, we're looking for someone who is structured, resilient under pressure, and analytical. You collaborate well, build strong relationships, and bring a holistic and long-term perspective. You're flexible, committed, and genuinely interested in emergency response and safety.
What we are looking for
There are several possible backgrounds that could prepare you well for this role. Examples of relevant previous roles or environments include:
Municipal or regional fire and rescue services in an operational or first-line leadership function (Crew Commander, Incident Commander, Operational Rescue Lead).
Industrial emergency response or on-site fire brigades, with focus on risk management, incident planning, or capability development.
Other blue-light organizations involving operational command, such as police, ambulance, or military rescue/CBRN units.
Crisis preparedness, security protection, or risk management within public authorities or large industrial operations.
Training, exercise development, or leadership development related to emergency response, incident command, or preparedness.
These are examples rather than strict requirements. What matters most is documented operational leadership experience and a solid understanding of emergency response and preparedness structures.
Below are the requirements we're looking for you to meet to a fair extent:

One of the following two:
SMO - Fire and Rescue Service Diploma or equivalent, combined with Command and Incident Leadership Training (practical/operational focus)

Solid experience and understanding of the Swedish national fire and rescue services, including organizational structures and relevant legislation.
Operational leadership experience within a fire and rescue service or other blue-light organization.
Experience in leading change and development projects.
Competences and skills
Strong and clear communication skills in both Swedish and English.
Understanding of crisis management, security protection, and risk management.
Knowledge of relevant Swedish regulations (e.g., LSO, LBE, PBL, Seveso)
Benefits at Stegra

You'll receive fair, competitive compensation aligned with collective agreements, along with benefits like up to 30 days of paid vacation, occupational pension, parental benefits, and insurance.
This is Stegra
Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO2 emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.
By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.
