Background

In Foundation Area Platform & Governance we support the whole Group Digital of Alfa Laval by providing robust platforms, infrastructure, security and governance to allow smooth and efficient development and operations. As a part of the overall Group Digital's agile delivery, we continue
developing our speed and deliveries by using best practices from SAFe as for example the Agile
Release Train concept and quarterly big room planning.



About the job

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join our organization overseeing multiple teams across integration, automation, security, devops, cloud and infrastructure initiatives. The RTE will manage the ART-level execution in line with strategic objectives, facilitating process and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

* Program and Release Management: Lead and manage the Agile Release Train (ART), coordinating the efforts of multiple agile teams to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of software releases.
* Facilitate quarterly big room planning (PI Planning): Organize and facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning events, aligning team objectives with organizational goals. Ensure dependencies and risks are well-managed across teams.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement within the ART by identifying bottlenecks, eliminating waste, and encouraging innovative solutions that enhance team performance.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a liaison between product managers, architects and stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and effective communication throughout the system development lifecycle.
* Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, manage, and escalate risks and issues that could impact program timelines and deliverables. Drive resolution of cross-team dependencies and blockers.
* Reporting: Monitor ART performance (e.g., velocity, predictability, quality), and provide transparent reporting to senior management and stakeholders on the health of the release train.
* Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with other release train engineer, program managers, engineering leads, and product owners to ensure smooth inter-team coordination and alignment with business strategy.

Qualifications

* Experience: 5+ years of experience in program management or agile leadership roles (RTE, Program Manager, or similar), preferably in a system development environment.
* Agile Expertise: Deep understanding of agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and experience scaling agile across multiple teams and projects.
* Certifications: SAFe RTE, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) preferred.
* Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to influence and drive change across teams.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage and convey complex information to diverse stakeholders.
* Problem-Solving: Proactive problem-solver who can navigate complex dependencies and manage risks effectively.
* Technical: Relevant academic background and prior experience within software and IT technologies and related life cycle processes.

Preferred Qualifications

* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, keeping teams aligned and on target.
* Technical understanding of software development processes and life cycles, allowing you to communicate effectively with technical teams.
