As part of the Product Management team you are technically responsible for defined portfolio of externally purchased raw materials such as polymer additives, fillers, master batches used in Borealis commercial products. As Raw Material Owner for Polypropylene and Raw Materials, you will drive continuous improvement in raw material quality, performance and cost. You will through networking with external supplies, procurement organisation, product owners and others ensure that our purchased raw materials meet both internal and external customer needs and expectations.
Contribution
• You are technically responsible that the raw materials of your assigned portfolio are fulfilling internal and external customers? needs and are supplied within established specifications.
• You translate Borealis technical requirements into External Raw Material Specification (ERMS).
• You are leading technical implementation of new raw material in cooperation with Product Owners and Operations.
• You are initiating and taking responsibility for timely completion of all steps of the Borealis internal raw material approval process.
• You together with the responsible Category Manager form the core of the Raw Material Buying Team and act as contact person for all technical aspects associated with the assigned Raw Material Portfolio.
• As part of the Buying team you give active support to the Category Manager in defining the sourcing strategy for the specific Raw Material portfolio.
• As part of the Buying team, you proactively screen raw materials market and suppliers for new technical solutions to improve performance and/or reduce cost and/or increase quality.
• You give technical support to the claim handling process and provide advisory opinion on the technical justification of raw material related claims.
• You are responsible for initiating corrective actions if quality and consistency of raw materials, technical data or specifications are not fulfilling the demands as well as leading relevant raw materials quality/consistency improvement projects.
• You perform audits at raw material suppliers.
• You provide input to innovation projects, e.g. in topics related to problem solving, quality improvements, plant capability, application development and cost saving solutions.
• You are responsible, with support from e.g. Product Stewardship to follow-up on the legal compliance of relevant raw materials (e.g. REACH, standards/specifications etc.).
• You contribute to overall HSE&Q performance keeping high HSE&Q standards in the relevant work environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• MSc degree in Material Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferably with 2-5 years? work experience
• Knowledge about polymer additives, fillers, master batches and their effect on the final performance of polymer materials is an advantage
• Excellent problem solving ability
• Innovative self-starter, constantly striving to expand own knowledge to achieve expertise
• Good cooperation skills, presenting own ideas, taking initiatives and interacting with stakeholders across Borealis
• Project management skills, and good ability to work in multi-cultural and cross-functional team
• Understand customers? needs and translate it into technical and product requirements
• Good documentation, presentation and reporting skills
• Fluency in English
