At Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, safety is at the heart of everything we do. Every launch, test and operation depends on thorough safety assessments and careful planning.
As a Range Safety Officer Trainee, you will join our experienced Range Safety Office and learn how safety is managed for rocket, balloon and future satellite launch operations. Working alongside three experienced Range Safety Officers, you will gradually take part in safety reviews, risk assessments and regulatory work while building specialist knowledge in one of the world's most unique space environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to develop into a specialist within mission safety and risk management.

REQUIREMENTS
We believe you are at the beginning of your career and have a strong interest in mission safety, risk management and the space industry.
To succeed in this role, you have:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or another relevant technical field.
An interest in safety engineering, risk analysis or mission assurance.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate complex technical information.
A structured way of working and good communication skills.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced specialists.
Fluency in both Swedish and English.
A valid driver's license.


It is considered an advantage if you have knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
Safety work in high-risk or highly regulated environments.
Handling of hazardous materials or explosives.
Rocket or balloon trajectory modelling.
Aerospace regulations.
Flight termination systems.
Risk analysis or systems engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Range Safety Office in reviewing flight and ground safety analyses for missions conducted at Esrange Space Center.
Assist in risk assessments and safety evaluations for rocket, balloon and future satellite launch operations.
Contribute to the maintenance and continuous development of the Range Safety Office's processes, documentation and safety structure.
Participate in regulatory and compliance work related to range safety and mission operations.
Support communication with authorities and other stakeholders regarding safety-related matters.
Work closely with experienced Range Safety Officers and gradually develop the competence required to independently contribute to safety reviews.
Help promote a strong and consistent safety culture across SSC Space.

LOCATION
This is a full-time, six-month fixed-term position (September–January) based at Esrange Space Center in Kiruna.
