SMHI, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, is an expert agency under the Ministry of the Environment and Energy. Through expertise in meteorology, hydrology, oceanography and climatology, SMHI contributes towards greater public welfare, increased safety and a sustainable society.

SMHI 's Research Department conducts research on weather, water, climate and environmental issues. The Research Department offers a stimulating international environment with many external contacts and flexible working conditions.

The atmospheric remote sensing group is working with research and development in remote sensing (weather, radar and satellite) as well as applications of this data. Our results are used for operational forecasts and products, as well as for model validation and to further understanding of geophysical processes. We are now looking for a researcher within the field of weather radar applications. The position is full time, unlimited contract with placement in Norrköping.

Radar data is not only used to describe precipitation and winds in real time, but is increasingly used quantitatively in meteorological and hydrological models and analyses. This leads to more stringent requirements on data and product quality. The Swedish radar network is currently undergoing modernization, which provides opportunities to introduce improved data processing algorithms, and opens up new application areas. Work content varies and spans from contributing to the development of operational radar products to support SMHIs radar activities are part of the work.Your profile
