The arena
An Associate Principal Scientist position is available in the R&I iMED Bioscience organization where you will be part of a team contributing to finding new therapies for inflammatory diseases, primarily for COPD, Asthma and RA. The role
You will lead the development and application of complex cellular models and cellular pharmacology to provide support to projects. You will be expected to devise, champion and develop scientific areas, aligned with project needs. In particular scientific areas you will lead from a lab-based perspective to make significant contributions to the practical delivery of project goals. You may also act as lead biologist or early project leader and represent the department at internal and external interdisciplinary meetings. The Associate Principal Scientist coaches and supports more junior scientists, by providing expert advice and interpretation of complex data.
Required experience
The successful candidate should have a PhD or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline with several years of relevant experience in drug discovery and/or early development. The role requires a proven track record of excellent scientific laboratory skills and in-depth knowledge of respiratory and inflammation biology. A thorough understanding of either receptor or ion channel pharmacology or enzymology is required, with a good understanding of all. You should be a scientific leader with very good analytical skills and a strategic mindset. In addition, we are looking for a team-player with good communication and presentation skills, and the ability to collaborate across a range of functions as well as within the bioscience discipline.
