You will be part of the global R&D organization of Substations, which develops solutions for substations comprising high and medium voltage apparatus, FACTS and battery energy storage systems. Our R&D engineers design innovative substation solutions for renewable grid integration, shore-to-ship power supply and railway feeding. The team operates in close cooperation with another R&D department located in Switzerland, several corporate research centers and engineering organizations world-wide.

Tasks
You will lead a team of more than 10 R&D engineers and specialists in the fields of power systems and power electronics. The mission of the team is to develop innovative cost-effective solutions for non-conventional substations in the main target applications. These are reactive power compensation (FACTS) for industry and utility customers, grid integration of renewables, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Shore-to-Ship, railway power supply, and datacenters. The activities can be diverse, from concept definition and verification, all the way to testing in different environments, including state-of-the-art Real Time Digital Simulator and pioneering high-power laboratories.

You are in charge of everyday operations, resource planning and management, as well as long-term competence development of your team. By coaching and supporting your employees, specialists and project managers alike, you lead them to achieve successful completion of the project deliverables with high quality. You promote re-use of technologies and tools across the wide range of applications in scope, to improve R&D efficiency and time to market.

With your genuine interest in technology, you naturally keep abreast of developments in the fields of interest for the position: mainly power systems, power electronics, and control. You are a strong contributor to developing the technology strategy of the BU. Finally, you have good understanding of the value of Intellectual Property.

BU Substations is a truly global organization and the R&D activities are organized accordingly. In this position, you will work in close cooperation with our R&D teams in Switzerland and India, with Product Management and engineering teams worldwide, as well as major suppliers and partners. You have also close contacts with Corporate Research centers, especially (but not only) in Sweden.

Requirements
You hold at least a Master?s degree within Electrical / Power Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent, and a minimum of five years of experience in in R&D in a relevant field. Knowledge in grid integration of power electronics and/or experience in power system / power electronics control and emulation environment is highly valuable. Experience from previous management positions, and/or experience of managing R&D projects, is an advantage.

To be successful in this environment, you must be organized, responsive and flexible, with excellent communication skills. The ability to work in a multi-cultural and geographically distributed organization is a key success factor in this position. Fluency in English is a must. Ability to communicate in Swedish and/or German is a plus. Welcome to apply by January 8.
