Electrical design engineers develop the next-generation technologies in HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) that enable to transmit electricity over long distances and via submarine cables which provides billions to access electricity. As a electrical design engineer, you will work in R&D organization on a specific development project critical to Hitachi Energy needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve.
The current technology has enabled the connection of renewable energy such as large offshore wind and remote solar generators to the grid and brings clean energy to large cities. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas to make the power grid greener and smarter as we continue to push the technology forward.
Our team is a part of Hitachi Technology and Solutions Development in Ludvika, Sweden, and is responsible for the development of semiconductor based HVDC and SVC converter valves. Our department has around 30 employees, focusing mainly on electrical and mechanical design, and works in close collaboration with the global HVDC organization.

Your responsibilities
In this role you will lead a team of approximate 15 highly skilled mechanical engineers for developing the converter valves, from concept phase to detailed design and introduction into production in our own factories.
Manage team operations and ensure team deliverables meet expectations on quality and technical performance set by the business.
Engage regularly with key stakeholders to ensure priorities and resource planning for development work are in line with the business strategy.
Support competence development of team members in relevant technical areas
Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities and improve operational performance of the department in collaboration with your colleagues.
Foster a strong and collaborative team culture based on mutual trust.
Enable the team to adapt to a continuously evolving, highly challenging and dynamic business environment, and to perform optimally under these conditions.
Ensure good alignment and collaboration with interfacing teams around the globe

Your background
You hold Bachelors/master's degree in mechanical engineering with technical experience in power industry.
Experience in people management as direct supervisor, project manager or other management activity.
Solid understanding of product development work within R&D organization.
Proven analytic skills, combined with broad technical interest and sound quality thinking.
Electromechanical design experience from electric power industry or design of high voltage products is valuable.
Previous experience in simulation tools, PLM systems, DFM/DFA, quality management, reliability engineering, DFMEA is a merit.
As you will be part of a company that operates on the global arena, you must be proficient in English. Preferably you are also fluent in Swedish.
