In this role you will be responsible for electrical design of rotating machines and development in the R&D department of large rotating AC Machines in ABB's Division of "Large Motors and Generators".
We are looking for a curious and ambitious specialist with high professional proven competence in fields of electrical design of rotating large AC Machines and high voltage electrical systems.
The work contains of electrical design & development of large rotating AC machines, improving electrical performance of existing product range and developing new features and products. You will be our main specialist in electrical engineering in the R&D department.
Working together with highly qualified colleagues and reporting to the Local R&D Manager for large Synchronous Machines in Västerås, Sweden, you will develop the product offerings and support our customers world-wide.
The ABB high speed synchronous motors and generators business lines are in the center of the energy transition and contributes to sustainable future by our energy efficient motors, generators and grid stabilizing condensers.
We work close together with our global customers to find the best and most efficient solutions and thereby reduce CO2 emissions. Your responsibilities
Develop our product offerings of large rotating AC Machines by developing and improving design and dimensioning principles by performing advanced electrical analysis, draw conclusions and transfer to usable results.
Support internal and external stakeholders with advanced electrical analysis of large rotating AC Machines and electrical systems.
Pro-actively develop and drive the development roadmap of large rotating AC Machines and electrical systems.
Develop solutions for sustainable offerings of large rotating AC Machines and systems.
Your background
Master of science in electrical engineering, meritorious is a PhD level.
Several years of experience in advanced electrical design, preferably with rotating electrical machines and electrical systems.
High knowledge level of electrical design and dimensioning theory.
High knowledge level of electrical design and dimensioning tools, eg el-FEM.
Knowledge in functional tool programming, eg matlab or similar
Fluent English by speech and writing and at least basic Swedish.
Meritorious is knowledge in insulation materials.
