hela Sverige Development of power electronics is being increasingly used in the power systems and has become an enabling technology for many new applications. The Power Electronics team at ABB corporate research provides expertise in power electronics research area to business units worldwide and cross ABB's entire product range. As a R&D Scientist with us, you will be involved in technology development projects in the area of power electronics with focus on developing the next generation of power converters for the Medium and High power applications such as FACTS and HVDC. Your assignments will include topology evaluation, power semiconductor characterization, and control and modulation strategies for high power electronic converters. You shall demonstrate the ability of challenging existing design and engineering practices in high power converters. You will also get a chance to manage several R&D projects and take responsibility for the planning, coordination and execution of experimental activities. As a part of ABB Corporate Research you will work in dynamic, motivated and creative teams with a wide range of experience and competence with access to highly advanced laboratory facilities. You combine a Master of Science or Ph.D in Power Electronics with some years' of relevant industrial experience within the area. Your background has provided you with theoretical understanding as well as experience in power electronic experimental tests. In addition, you are familiar with EMTDC/PSCAD and Matlab/Simulink. Experience in converters topology design as well as power electronics systems modeling and simulation is valued. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is a prerequisite while Swedish skills are advantageous. It is of equal importance that you are a driven person with initiative as well as excellent time management and organizational skills, enabling you to deliver high quality on time. Further, you have a creative approach toward challenges and the ability to solve practical problems. Last but not least, you have a strong interest in technology and operational development.
You will be part of Corporate Research in Västerås. We are the largest research center within ABB with world class expertise and state-of-the-art resources to support innovation in the areas of both power technology and automation. Our multicultural research center consists of approximately 250 scientists from 45 different countries.
