R&D Project Lead
Uppsala, Sweden

How will you make an impact?
In the R&D group for Large Instruments you would work with Phadia 250, Phadia 1000 and Phadia 2500 instruments. This is a new position that will be a key role from several aspects. In this position you would gain and hold the complete overall picture and coordination of all development activities performed by our main supplier positioned in Japan. Your main role will be the link between the development engineers in our group and the supplier, as well as working closely with our project managers.

What will you do?
Coordinate and track current development activities performed by our main supplier. Activities range from rather simple component replacements to very complex multi-year projects including both hardware and software.
Provide a holistic view of the capabilities of each company and provide input for activity prioritization.
Work closely with project managers to ensure alignment of project plans and portfolio planning.
Be the link between the project managers, the engineers at Thermo Fisher Scientific and the supplier.
Act as hands on project manager and lead some of our cross functional activities.
Assist line managers in coordination and prioritization.
Develop and improve the interface and relation between us and our supplier.
Identify program risks, providing and executing mitigation plans in order to meet project plans.
As required, travel to the supplier as well as hosting meetings when the supplier visits us.

How will you get here?
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Science, or related field

Experience:
A few years of hands on project management/project leader experience with global cross-functional teams.
Strong expertise and practical experience with project management concepts and processes.
Experience from large and complex projects.
Experience from working with suppliers in east Asia (Japan) is an advantage
Experience from the life science business or any other highly regulated industry is advantage.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience of product development, preferably of complex products containing both hardware and software.
Proven ability to lead groups, manage deliverables and work towards metrics as well as maintaining customer relationships.
Able to work independently with good leadership skills, sometimes with unclear directions.
Work effectively in a virtual team environment and providing interpersonal skills, including teamwork and facilitation.
English skills are crucial since this role requires global networking. Swedish is an advantage.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with leadership and employees at all levels. Ability to prepare high quality presentations and deliver them effectively.
Demonstrate enthusiasm, take accountability and drive for results.
