We at Outokumpu are now looking for a Research & Development Engineer for the Process Physical Metallurgy team within the Global R&D organization. Location of the position is in Avesta, Sweden.
As a team member in an international R&D team, you will support and work towards success in accordance with our strategy and the R&D must win battle, sustainable production process technologies and future products and applications.

The R&D Process Physical Metallurgy department consists of twenty employees located in Finland, Sweden and Germany with excellent experience and competence in processing and development of stainless steel. The department is responsible for development and optimization of material processes from casting to finished goods with a sound foundation in material science.
Main responsibilities include:
Participate in R&D projects as team member responsible for testing in the respective field
Perform testing independently according to internal standard and given external standards
Independently create test plans to complete a task in an R&D project
Documentation and presentation of testing results within R&D
Development, improvement, and validation of testing methods
Responsibility for and development of R&D equipment, analysis methods and laboratory
Instruction of students and trainees in the respective field

Qualifications:
BSc, state-certified technician, or equivalent experience
Knowledge and experience of microscopy such as LOM, SEM, FIB, EBSD
Good understanding of testing standards in the respective field
Language skills (both oral and written) in English
Basic understanding of relationship between product and production process
Good ability to cooperate with colleagues
