Sandvik Coromant R&D Materials and Processes in Västberga, Stockholm employs about 150 people with more than 20 nationalities. We are part of the business area Sandvik Machining Solutions within the global industrial group Sandvik and work with development of hard materials for metal cutting. The materials laboratory has processing equipment for production of test materials on both lab and pilot study scales, as well as advanced equipment for testing and analysis.
We are now looking for a R&D Engineer to strengthen our team working with Surface and Edge Treatments for cutting tools.
Key performance areas
As a R&D Engineer you will develop methods and processes for edge preparation and surface treatments for cutting tools. This position takes an active part in product development, research projects and production support. You will also:
• Work with surface and edge measurements and characterization
• Evaluate and monitor new technology and equipment relevant for this area
• Have close collaboration with our production units, mainly in Gimo, and network with many global contacts, internally and externally
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Masters in Engineering or equivalent. Work experience from edge and surface treatments and metal cutting is advantageous.
You are a problem-solver and an analytical and strategic thinker who takes initiative and has good cooperative abilities. You are outgoing, good at networking and have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. The position is well suited to someone who is, or wants to become, a technical specialist within the area.
